Laura Sakow

I began painting greeting cards in 1991 while working on my BA in Art at The University of Louisville. I painted cards to sell in local galleries and art fairs and went on to earn my Master of Arts in Teaching. I taught art at the elementary and middle school levels for several years before shifting gears and managing my husband’s medical billing office. After gaining valuable business experience I have returned to my passion of painting cards.
I love making quick, gesture paintings on a small scale combined with lettering, glitter and other fun media to form a unique greeting card, or “greeting art”.

I  have been involved in charity work at the grassroots level and  recognize the importance of giving time, talent and or resources to worthy causes.  Sharing our God given gifts to help others is vital to our society.  It is with that spirit that one dollar from each card purchased will go to charity.

Cynthia Farrell

Aloha, name is Cynthia Farrell. I’ve lived in Hawaii for almost 40 years so I’m what Hawaiians call a Kamaaina.

When I was about 14 yrs old my Mom took me to see the film South Pacific. I remember telling her that I was going live on an island one day. Well, dreams do come true. I met my husband on Waikiki Beach in 1968. He was on his way to Viet Nam. We married fours years later, had two children and now we’re blessed with two grandchildren.

I’ve always enjoyed painting and a few years ago I decided to see if others might as well. Besides cards I paint Christmas ornaments and crosses. I now have my art work in four Hawaiian stores around the island.
I love these islands, its people, the ocean and the beautiful flowers. I hope you enjoy the Hawaiian Hibiscus as much as I do.

Peggy Garrison

Peggy Garrison is a life-long resident of Kentucky. She writes many of Sakow Cards' beautiful versus. Her inspiration comes from her husband, two children and two dogs. She has worked in marketing & advertising for over 20 years.

Nancy Gelband

It seems I have been drawing, painting and writing forever. My “career” began when I first learned to hold a pencil as a child. After extensive study in both art and graphic art, I have engaged in projects ranging from portraits and wall-scale decorative paint effects, including trompe l’oeil, to business card and greeting card design. For the past 16 months I have also enjoyed creating my online newsletter, Heartland Motors-Spreading the Word among Friends. Both writing and visual art have moved me to take a closer look at life and life has inspired me with images and words beyond anything I could imagine. I find fulfillment in this. I find peace in this. My mission is to share this beauty, this truth - visually and through the written word. It is an honor to work with Laura at Sakow Cards – expressing myself through “card art” and written sentiments.
